Figurative Language Used in Song Lyrics
In my advanced English/Language arts class, we have been studying poetry and figurative language. Poetry is a form of literature, spoken or written, that emphasizes rhythm. Figurative language is language that uses words or expressions with meaning that is different from the literal interpretation. Figurative language is very common in poetry but it is also used in nonfiction writing as well. There are many different types of figurative language such as simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, idiom, and cliché. there are many songs lyrics with figurative language.
To begin with, a song that uses metaphor by Florida-Georgia line is "Baby you a song, you make me wanna role my windows down and cruise" This is the line from the song lyrics "Cruise" which is a metaphor. A metaphor is when an object is compared without using as or like. This song is known as a metaphor because she isn't really a song. Another example of metaphor used in song lyrics is "She's the sunset's shadow, she likes rembrandt's light, she's the history made at night, she's my lost companion, she's my dancing tree, together in this brief eternity" This song was written by Tim McGraw and the name of the song is "She's My Kind Of Rain". This line from the song is a metaphor as well because she isn't the sunsets shadow or a dancing tree.
Furthermore, songs also use hyperbole in the song lyrics. The pop song "Titanium" by David Guetta is an example of hyperbole. "Im bulletoof, nothing to lose fire away, fire away ricochet, you take your aim fire away, fire away, you shoot me down, but I won’t fall I am titanium". This song is a hyperbole because she is not titanium. She over exaggerating and she feels that she is strong and powerful. She feels that she can stand up for what she is and what she believes in.
Be that as it may, but other songs have onomatopoeia in them. "This beat go boom boom pow." This song line is from the song "Boom Boom Pow" by The Black Eyed Peas. This is an onomatopoeia because it has kind of life an explosion sound. For example, "thwack, bang, boom, pow". These are all onomatopoeias. You may find onomatopoeias in other song lyrics.
In conclusion, many songs have different figurative language and poetic elements. The figurative languages and poetic elements are simile, metaphor, cliche, idiom, alliteration, hyperbole, imagery, personification. Now, let's see what you can come up with finding song lyrics that go along with these poetic elements.

We've Got It Good!
This week my E/LA teacher gave the class an assignment to write a blog whether or not we have it good. it is about the Victorian Era, which happened in England. the teacher made us do a little research so we can fill out a chart about this and learn more about The Victorian Era. This is the reserch i found:
Life was very difficult during The Victorian Era. To begin with, The Victorian Era brought a great age of doubt. Water became contaminated, the was ankle deep mud, and their were overflowing drains. Then it started to get worst, animals and humans were decaying. Grass began growing in sewage pipes, sinks, toilets, and bath tubs. Furthermore as The Victorian Era went on, poor people would have too fight against immigrants to get jobs, which helped feed their family. While The Victorian Era was going on, they also hardly ever celebrated Christmas. But by the end of the 19th century, Christmas became the bigget annual celebration. Ultimately, today in The United States, we celebrate Christmas every year. The Victorians became sick and did not have cures to those diseases like the United States did. The United States and England are both not the upper class. The United States does not have overflowing sewages, grasses growing in pipes, baths, sinks, and bath tubs. During The Victorian Era, kids 0f ages four and 10 were working in factories. In England the life expectancy was 10 years old and the U. S. life expectancy was 70 to 80 years old.

One job i am interested in is marine biology. it is something i can be good at. Marine bioligists study organisms, the way they behave, and the way the act in the environment. Marine biologists have to know the aspects of the organism befire they study it. Their are many jobs you can have in this field. For example, molecular biology. That is the branch of biology that deals with the molecular basis of biological activity(exact definition from internet). I know a lot about the ocean. marine geology and geophysics, physical oceanography, and marine chemistry and geochemistry are the disciplines of oceanography. Marine biologists get paid about $45,000 to $75,000.
Furthermore, i am interested in is being a vet.A veterinarian is a medically trained physician that practices on non-human animals. Some facts about veterinarians include they hold a medical degree and can treat a wide variety of animals including cats, dogs, birds, and reptiles. Veterinarians are trained to treat diseases, disorders, and injuries. I work well with animals. I especially love being with horses and dogs. Vets make as much as $80,000 to $95,000 a year. I am hoping to be where i can wash the animals, play with them and then do my job.
My third choice job is that i would do in the future is to be a nurse. A nurse makes about $65,000 to $70,000 a year. Nursing takes a lot of work. Nursing is when a person is trained to care for the sick or infirm, especially in a hospital. Registered nurses work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients with illnesses. The bachelor of science degree in nursing is the first step for a career in nursing. When providing direct patient care, they observe, record and report symptoms, reactions, and progress. Nursing home nurses manage nursing care for residents with conditions ranging from a fracture to Alzheimer's disease. If i dont make it into the nursing program, i am thinking about going into radiology. Radiology is the science dealing with X-rays and other high-radiation especially the use of radiation for diagnosis and treatment of disease. The most visits to the emergency room occur during the warmer months of the year.

Education systems in different countries
Finland has the highest rank of education today. Education in finland is a system with no tuition fees and with fully subsided meals served to full-time students. Education in pakistan is overseen by the governments. It is divided into five levels. Primary school, middle school, high school, secondary school certificate, intermediate, then leading to a higher secondary certificate. In china, the education is divided into three categories. Basic, higher, and adult education. Basic education in china includes preschool education, primary education, and regular secondary education. Education in australia is primarily the responsibility of the states and territories. Each state or territory government provides funding and regulates the public and private schools within its governing area. Education in india is provided by the public sector as well as a private sector. It falls under the control of both the union government and thes state governments. India has made some progress in terms of increasing the primary education attendence rate and expanding literacy to approxinmately three quarters of the population. Education in canada is for the most part provided publicly, funded and overseen by federal, provincial, and local governments. It is generally divided into primary education, followed by secondary education and post-secondary. Education is compulsory up to the age of 16 in every province in Canada, except for Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick, where the compulsory age is 18, or as soon as a high school diploma has been achieved. Elementary, secondary, and post-secondary education in Canada is a provincial responsibility and there are many variations. Education in south korea is viewed as being crucial for success and competition is, consequently, very heated and fierce. A central administration oversees the process for the education of children from kindergarten to the third and final year of high school. Although South Korean students often rank highly on international comparative assessments when compared to students of most Western education systems, the South Korean education system is criticised for emphasising too much upon passive learning and memorisation. The South Korean education system is rather notably strict and overly structured as compared to its counterparts in most Western societies. Education in Russia is provided predominantly by the state and is regulated by the educations ministry and science. Regional authorities regulate education within their jurisdictions within the prevailing framework of
federal laws. Education in turkey is governed by a national system which was established in
accordance with the Ataturik Reforms after the turkish war of independence. It is a state supervised
system designed to produce a skillful professional class for the social and economic institutes of the
nation.
